You can count on me to build a solid case and defend your rights in the courtroom.
At the Law Offices of David Mengers, I focus on providing the best possible defense for each of my clients. I graduated from the University of Florida College of Law with Honors in 1985, made the Dean’s List five times, won two Book Awards, and earned an American Jurisprudence Award. After graduation, I began practicing law in 1986 and am now a board-certified criminal trial lawyer, one of only two such attorneys in the Marion County, Florida area. I have held this distinction since 2000. Additionally, I have extensive, successful trial experience at both the state and federal levels.
You should also be aware that I have lectured in different forums on various legal topics, including DUI defense, voir dire (jury selection), and appeals, along with being a recognized expert in criminal law. I have been a part of hundreds of jury trials in state courts in Marion County, Citrus County, and Alachua County, as well as federal cases in Gainesville, Marion County, and Orlando. In addition, I am the president of the Marion County Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and am a past member of the board of directors of the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. Finally, I write for the Florida Defender, a magazine that is published three to four times a year, and I currently write the “Don’t Make a Federal Case Out of It” column.
